Dear beekeepers and beekeeping fans, Welcome to the website of the Sarajevo Beekeeping Festival – Days of the beekeeping and the beekeepers equipment (Bee-Fest) - Sarajevo Honey Fest. With this webpage we are trying to spread the popularity of the beekeeping in Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH), and its best promotion in BiH, as well as other countries of the area. Promotion of the beekeeping in BiH, popularization of the bee products and equipment can be done on many different ways. One of them is presentation of the beekeepers on the manifestation such as Bee-Fest, the fifth beekeeping festival – Days of the beekeeping and the beekeepers equipment. It is organized and held in Sarajevo, from 1th till 6th September of 2010, on the "Oslobođenje - Alija Izetbegović" square – the central town square next to Economy faculty. This bee-fest accustoms the wide circle of people with the beekeeping and its products, and it wakes the interest in new beekeepers and their customers. Today beekeeping is one of the most important farming activities, also it is studied on the universities, with doctoral dissertations in the beekeeping topics, and there is a load of literature with different beekeeping subjects for studies. But beekeeping is not only "the science", but also it is a hobby for many "small" beekeepers. Beekeeping is a hobby which is hard to leave, because when one starts liking bees and beekeeping, one stays with it for the rest of the life. That is why Bee-fest presents not only major beekeepers, but also beekeeping hobbyists, that produce the healthiest, high quality honey. We would like to move the public and decision makers on all the levels of power in BiH, to give more attention to this prosperous business, than they did until now, through health care, better veterinary control, promotion and help to the beekeeping associations by affirming their work. Well respected friends, BEE-FEST Sarajevo Beekeeping Festival – Days of the beekeeping and the beekeepers equipment is original and copyrighted project that promotes beekeeping, production of honey and other bee products, as well as the products that are based on the bee products. First Beekeeping Festival – Days of the beekeeping was held in 2003 and we managed to get together beekeepers from the whole BiH, as well as presenters from Croatia and Serbia-Montenegro. In 2004 on the second festival of the beekeeping and the beekeepers equipment, there were over 50 presenters from BiH, Croatia and Serbia-Montenegro, along with organized visit of the beekeepers from the city of Sombor. In 2005 on the third festival of the beekeeping and the beekeepers equipment, there were over 80 presenters from BiH, Croatia anda Serbia-Montenegro. In 2006 were over 100 presenters from Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and also from Turky on fourth Bee-fest. Fifth Bee-fest were in 2007, sixth Festival were 2008 and seventh Bee-fest were in 2009. This project is realized in cooperation with societies and associations of beekeepers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Support for the Festival is given by Municipalities Stari Grad, Sarajevo Canton. This, the 8th Festival of the beekeeping and the beekeepers equipment, will be held in Sarajevo, from 1th till 5th September of 2010, on the "Oslobođenje-Alija izetbegović" square – the central town square next to Economy college. The program of the festival: • Show and sale of the highest quality honey that is produced in BiH (held every day from 8am till 7pm). • Educational parts of the festival. • Education from the area of bee-health and promotion of the beekeeping sector with presentations of the most eminent experts from this field. • Informational presentations of the beekeepers – using internal sound system on the main scene of the Bee-fest. • Bee-fest program is monitored by printed and electronic medium, which gives opportunities to the beekeepers to present themselves directly by those mediums. All participants must have certified VS form, which is issued by veterinary inspection, that certifies authenticity and quality of the honey that is presented. • Cultural and artistic programs, accompanied by presentations of the folklore groups. I invite all potential participants and visitors to come to the "Oslobođenje-Alija Izetbegović" square and try the highest quality honey that is made in BiH, and get assured that the Bosnian honey is of the highest quality.
